4.29.12

At first, he refused.  When he realized he could
work the hand mixer, he put on the suit without a fuss.
We spent the first moments of our day telling the birthday girl about the day she was born.
Happy Birthday Layla!
Zackery decided he wanted to make Layla's birthday cake.
Layla convinced her brother to put on his chef costume in the process.

The sign Layla woke up to first thing this a.m.

Admission

I walked through the front door around 8:30 p.m. and Zackery met me there.  He hugged me and I asked him about his day.  He chose to admit his friend and himself threw sand at school today.  Although, I was extremely proud of him for being forthcoming, we (Derek and I) had to talk to him about the danger of sand throwing.  He cried, realizing he could possibly be in alot of trouble with Dad, but Mom took it as a teaching moment for all of us and allowed Zackery time to process his actions and their consequences.  He willingly came up with a solution, "Don't throw sand at friends!" and we hugged it out.  My, oh, my!  He's growing and looking more ready for Kindergarten every day.

Leila, the Bug

After two absences from school, Zackery returns today with this masterpiece.  A bug he created and named Leila.  Yes, it's pronounced the same way as Layla.  He was proud and even told Layla, "Hey, it's you, Layla."  We giggled, of course.  His sister, herself, thought it was hilarious!

Flagstaff Family Time

We traveled to Flagstaff to see our family this weekend.  We had a great time, althought it was short and sweet.  While attending a retirement party for a dear family friend, Zackery gave his grandma a blue balloon and tied it to her wrist himself.  He told her, "This is so I can find you!" and ran off.  It was a crowded room and we loved that he took the initiative to keep his Grandma located for the remainder of the party.

Thankful - 4.11.12

Taken on April 11, 2012

On my home, I was in the middle of my prayer with God, thanking him for all he has done for my family.  Transplant Week is usually a rollercoaster of emotions for our family, as we go through all the feelings that we experienced those days leading to the transplant that saved Zackery.   I was in the middle of praying for Zack's donor family as well as praying for all those people who checked "YES" to attend Zackery's liver event by making a pledge of doing something good for someone else.  I was just overwhelmed by how good God is and I looked up to the sky to see this wonderful view.  It was so great to see that God could show me his love anytime, anywhere.  Forever grateful for all the blessings in our life.

Happy Thoughts

Finishing up a project and I got a chance to see some pictures of our Disney trip in 2010. Just thought to share a picture. Layla and Zackery are so small in these pictures.

Flashback Wednesday

Tonight - Zackery, Layla and Mommy went thru all the home videos we have in our archive. Zackery and Layla loved seeing themselves as babies and toddlers.
Highs:
  • Zackery liked seeing himself on the screen.
  • Layla enjoyed watching herself dance and sing, "hamming" it up for the camera.
  • Mommy loved revisiting their baby phase.

Low:

  • Mommy shedding a few tears, realizing that her "babies" have grown so much!

Oh, how fast they grow! Enjoy the videos I've added for your enjoyment!
